Oral health affects everyone, regardless of age. However, some adults would like to avoid the noticeable look and frequent appointments associated with traditional braces. At Foothills Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we provide a convenient and comfortable choice: Invisalign for adults.

Why should I get Invisalign as an adult?

Invisalign for adults offers a comfortable and seamless alternative to braces. Whereas the small brackets and crevices of braces are magnets for food particles, Invisalign aligners come out for each meal. You only need to brush and floss before wearing them again. To maintain the clear appearance of the aligners, you will want to avoid drinking anything other than water while you have your aligners in.

For those concerned about visibility, Invisalign is virtually unnoticeable. The clear aligners fit over your teeth smoothly, so most people may not even realize you are wearing them.

Another perk to Invisalign treatment is that there are fewer appointments. We understand that everyone has a busy schedule, so with Invisalign, we give you all of your aligners at your first treatment appointment to switch out on your own. Every two weeks, you will move into a new set of aligners and only come into our office every month or so to ensure that you are staying on the right track.

How will you start my treatment plan?

At Foothills Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we offer a free consultation for Invisalign. Dr. Evan will use the iTero digital scanner to take a full impression of your smile. Don’t worry, this impression is fully digital, so no messy or uncomfortable molds to work with. These scans will also help us depict how your smile will look after treatment, so you get a preview of the exciting results to come! Dr. Evan works with you from the very beginning to ensure that your treatment plan is right for you. He fully customizes each Invisalign case so that it is unique to fit your specific plan.

Throughout your treatment, you’ll receive a series of aligners to gently shift your teeth over time. Traditional braces require frequent in-office adjustments. Our Invisalign process requires only occasional check-ups to check your progress and ensure your teeth are progressing as they should.

You may experience minor soreness initially and after swapping out some of your aligners for the next progression. However, this is normal and should subside in a day or two as your mouth adjusts. Wearing your aligners as prescribed also quickens your mouth’s adjustment to them. Taking over-the-counter pain medication can help alleviate any discomfort if needed.

How long will my treatment plan last?

Treatment plans differ from patient to patient and depend on the severity of issues being corrected. The average treatment time takes between 12 and 24 months. However, we will review treatment time in full detail, specific to your case at your initial consultation.
